About MatheCord

MatheCord is an online marketplace that connects students with independent math tutors. Tutors can publish profiles on the MatheCord website showing their hourly rate, the topics they teach, and their weekly availability. Students can browse the directory, contact tutors through monitored support tickets, and arrange tutoring sessions directly with the tutor they choose.

MatheCord also operates a Discord community that includes digital practice worksheets, discussion channels, and workshops hosted by tutors. Discord supports introductions and community activity but is only one part of the MatheCord service.

MatheCord is not a party to agreements made between tutors and students and does not take a commission from tutoring fees.

MatheCord’s Mission

Our mission is to make it easier for students to find math tutors who fit their needs while allowing tutors to set their own rates and keep what they earn. Tutors are responsible for determining their own pricing and tutoring services.

MatheCord also provides digital math practice worksheets and a community where members can ask questions, participate in discussions, and work through math problems together.

Age Requirement

The MatheCord Discord server is open to people seeking math support. Because MatheTutors are independent educators and are not vetted by MatheCord, anyone under 18 should be supervised by a parent or guardian while using the MatheCord server and during virtual tutoring sessions.

User Responsibility for Vetting Tutors

MatheCord does not conduct official vetting or background checks on tutors. Users are responsible for researching, evaluating, and reviewing any tutor they choose to work with through the platform. MatheCord is not responsible for a user's decision to select or work with a particular tutor. If tutoring services are being provided to a minor, a parent or guardian should supervise all tutoring sessions.

Limitation of Liability

MatheCord serves as a connection point between math tutors and students. MatheCord does not process tutoring session payments and does not conduct background checks on tutors. Students, or parents and guardians of minors, are responsible for researching tutors, reviewing available information, and deciding whether a tutor is appropriate for their needs. MatheCord administrators may investigate reported suspicious or fraudulent activity. However, MatheCord is not responsible for the actions of tutors, students, or other parties involved in tutoring sessions. Users choose to engage with independent tutors at their own risk.

Third Party Links and Liability Disclaimer

The MatheCord platform may contain links to third party websites, services, or downloads. MatheCord is not responsible for the content, accuracy, availability, or security of third party materials. Users should exercise care when opening external links or downloads. If you encounter a suspicious link or download, report it to MatheCord administrators by opening a support ticket.

Use of Educational Resources

Educational resources provided by MatheCord, including digital practice worksheets through LiveWorksheets, are intended for educational use. These resources are designed to support learning and provide additional practice opportunities.

1. Prohibition on Sale and Distribution. MatheCord educational materials may not be sold, reproduced, or distributed for commercial purposes unless permission has been provided.
2. Compliance. By accessing and using MatheCord educational resources, users agree to follow these Terms. Violations may result in loss of access or removal from the MatheCord server.
3. Modifications. MatheCord may update or modify these Terms. Continued use of the resources after changes are made constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

Fraudulent Activity Policy

MatheCord does not permit fraudulent activity by MatheTutors, MatheStudents, or other users. If you encounter or suspect fraudulent behavior, report it by opening a support ticket. Reports of suspected fraud may be investigated by the MatheCord administration team and handled according to MatheCord policies. Cooperation from community members helps support a fair and trustworthy environment.

Subscription Plans

MatheCord offers subscription plans that help support the platform, community, software, and related services. A subscription is required when a user wants access to features or roles associated with a specific plan. Subscription plans may be billed weekly, monthly, or annually and are recurring until canceled. Payments are nonrefundable once received unless otherwise required by applicable law or stated by MatheCord. Users may cancel or downgrade a subscription, with the change taking effect at the end of the current billing period.

Student Subscription Plans

MatheStudent subscription fees do not include tutoring session fees. Tutoring session fees are separate and are paid directly to the tutor.

Changes to Subscription Plans

MatheCord may change subscription plan pricing. Users will be notified in advance of applicable price changes through email, the platform, or another available communication method.

Subscription Cancellation and User Ban Policy

MatheCord may cancel a user's subscription or remove a user from the MatheCord server when conduct violates platform rules or policies. Subscription payments canceled because of a policy violation may be nonrefundable. MatheCord may take action based on the nature and seriousness of the conduct involved.

Automatic Charging After Free Trial

Policy on Tutor Honesty and Ethical Obligations

MatheTutors are expected to act honestly and professionally when offering tutoring services through MatheCord. Tutors are responsible for accurately representing their services, availability, and commitments to MatheStudents.

1. Commitment to Honesty. MatheTutors must provide accurate information about their tutoring abilities, availability, pricing, and services.
2. Session Cancellations. If a MatheTutor cancels a tutoring session, the tutor must provide the MatheStudent with either a full refund of the session fee or a makeup session at a mutually agreed time.
3. Contractual Inclusion. This cancellation policy must be included in agreements between MatheTutors and MatheStudents. By purchasing a MatheTutor subscription, tutors acknowledge these requirements.
4. Consequences of Dishonesty. MatheCord may cancel a MatheTutor subscription and remove the tutor from the MatheCord server if the tutor fails to comply with these requirements.

Tutor Reviews

MatheCord provides a dedicated MatheTutor review channel within the Discord server. Students are encouraged to read available reviews before choosing a tutor and to share feedback after tutoring sessions. Reviews can help other students understand a tutor's teaching style and past student experiences. Because MatheCord does not vet tutors, reviews are one source of information students may consider when deciding which tutor to contact.

Tutor Status

MatheTutors are not employees of MatheCord. They operate as independent contractors and are responsible for their own tutoring services, interactions with students, scheduling, payments, contracts, taxes, and other business responsibilities.

Policy for Hosting Virtual Workshops

Members who want to host or promote virtual tutoring workshops through MatheCord must follow MatheCord's workshop and subscription requirements.

1. A user may purchase a MatheTutor subscription plan to access applicable tutor workshop and promotional features.
2. MatheGuests without a MatheTutor subscription may not display tutoring session booking links in their Discord profiles.

These requirements help MatheCord manage how tutoring services are promoted within the community.

External Communications

MatheCord encourages tutors and students to keep tutoring related communication within the MatheCord ticket system. MatheCord does not supervise or accept responsibility for communication or arrangements made outside the platform, including private direct messages between tutors and students.

MatheStudents and MatheTutors can use the dedicated tutor and student ticket system to discuss tutoring needs, scheduling, and other arrangements. MatheCord monitors and reviews ticket conversations, creating a record of communication that can be used when investigating concerns or disputes.

Sessions on Alternate Platforms

MatheTutors may conduct tutoring sessions on the platform of their choice. Tutors may choose to use MatheCord’s connected learning platform, Lessonspace.

Session Recordings on Lessonspace

Tutor Profiles on the Website

MatheTutors with an active subscription may publish a profile through the MatheCord website. By publishing a profile, you agree to the following requirements:

1. Accuracy. Your profile must accurately describe the tutoring services you provide, your rates, and your availability. Rates, topics, and availability should be kept current.
2. Publication. Your profile appears in the tutor directory on the MatheCord website and is also posted automatically in relevant Discord topic channels. Publishing your profile gives MatheCord permission to display this information in both places.
3. Your Content. You are responsible for everything you upload, including your photograph, About Me text, resume, contract, and certifications. Do not upload content that you do not have permission or the legal right to use.
4. Editing and Removal. You may edit or remove your profile at any time. MatheCord may remove a profile that violates these Terms.
5. Lapsed Subscriptions. If your subscription ends, your profile is hidden from the tutor directory and removed from Discord. Your profile may become available again if you resubscribe.
6. Links You Provide. Booking and payment links included on your profile are provided and managed by you. MatheCord does not process payments made through these links and is not responsible for third party services connected to them.

Tutor Profile Limitation

Each MatheTutor subscription is limited to one tutor profile. Sharing a tutor subscription between multiple tutors is not permitted. MatheCord administrators may review tutor profiles to help confirm that profile information is consistent with the tutoring services and math topics being offered. Violations may result in removal of the profile, cancellation of the subscription, or removal from the MatheCord community.

Student Account Limitation

Each MatheStudent subscription is limited to one student. Sharing a Lessonspace student account between multiple students is not permitted. MatheCord may remove access or cancel a subscription when this policy is violated.

Student Access on Lessonspace

Students must have an eligible MatheCord student subscription to access tutoring sessions through Lessonspace. MatheStudents receive their own Lessonspace student account. MatheCord administrators may monitor account access and remove Lessonspace accounts that are not connected to an active eligible MatheCord subscription.

Tutor Responsibilities

MatheTutors are responsible for managing their own contracts with students, scheduling, tax obligations, invoicing, and payment processing. MatheCord is not a party to agreements made directly between tutors and students.

Tutor and Student Disputes

If a dispute arises between a MatheTutor and MatheStudent, open a support ticket so the MatheCord administration team can review and investigate the situation. MatheCord does not insure or hold tutoring session payments because payments are handled directly between tutors and students.

If a payment related dispute occurs, such as a tutor receiving payment but not attending a scheduled session or a student failing to pay an agreed amount, MatheCord may investigate the issue and take action on the platform. This may include canceling subscriptions or removing the responsible user from the MatheCord community.

Online Tutoring Connection Only

User Conduct

Users must use the MatheCord platform for lawful purposes and communicate respectfully with other members. Prohibited behavior includes, but is not limited to:

• Harassing, threatening, or intimidating other users
• Sharing inappropriate, offensive, or illegal content
• Engaging in fraudulent activity
• Disruptive behavior, excessive offensive language, or personal attacks against other users

Disorderly Conduct Policy

Users who engage in disruptive or inappropriate conduct may receive a warning, have their access restricted, or be removed from the platform. MatheCord administration may consider the nature and severity of the conduct when determining the appropriate response.

Affiliate Program Rules and Instructions

Affiliates participating in the MatheCord Affiliate Program must follow the applicable program rules and guidelines.

1. Compliance With Program Policies. Affiliates must follow MatheCord’s Affiliate Program rules, Terms and Conditions, and applicable platform policies.
2. Prohibited Activities. Affiliates may not engage in false advertising, spam, impersonation of MatheCord, promotion alongside inappropriate content, bidding on restricted brand terms, cookie stuffing, or other prohibited promotional practices.
3. Disclosure of Affiliate Links. Affiliates are responsible for clearly disclosing affiliate relationships in promotional content when required by applicable advertising laws or platform rules.
4. Promotional Content Guidelines. Affiliate content should accurately represent MatheCord and maintain a professional standard consistent with the platform’s mission and values.

Termination of Use

MatheCord may suspend or terminate a user’s access to the platform when MatheCord reasonably believes the user has violated these Terms, platform rules, or has engaged in conduct that may harm other users or the platform.

Changes to Terms

MatheCord may update these Terms from time to time. Users may be notified of material changes through the platform, email, or another available communication method. Continued use of MatheCord after updated Terms take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the applicable laws identified by MatheCord for its business operations. Disputes arising from these Terms will be handled in the appropriate jurisdiction and courts specified by MatheCord.
