What Is Coming Next to MatheCord

MatheCord started as a place where people could ask a math question and get a real answer from a real person. That has not changed. What has changed is how much is happening around it. Between events, new tutors joining, and a few things being built behind the scenes, the next couple of months are the busiest stretch the community has had. Here is what is coming.

MatheChat Level Up, Chapter 2

The biggest thing on the calendar runs from August 2 to August 22. It is the second chapter of MatheChat Level Up, and the format is simple: be an active, useful member of the community and your level goes up automatically. The leveling bot tracks it in the background, so there is nothing to sign up for and no form to fill in.

At the end of the three weeks, the four members with the highest levels win free months of any membership plan. First place takes five months, second takes four, third takes three, and fourth takes two. Winners open a support ticket to claim their coupon code.

Worth saying plainly: this is not a contest for people who are already good at math. Levels come from taking part. Asking a question counts. Answering someone else counts. Joining the daily challenges counts. Some of the most active members in Chapter 1 were people who started the month feeling behind.

Something Bigger Is Being Built

There is a larger project underway that we are not ready to talk about in detail yet. What we can say is that it is aimed at one of the most common pieces of feedback we get, which is that finding the right tutor takes more digging than it should.

If you have ever scrolled through the tutor channels trying to work out who fits what you need, you will probably like where this is going. More on it when it is closer to ready.

Workshops Are Waiting on Us Growing

Back in May we ran an event inviting educators to host free math workshops, and a number of them put their hands up. Those workshops have not run yet, and that is on purpose. A workshop with a handful of people in the room is not much of a workshop, so we are holding off until the community is big enough that the people who show up get something genuinely useful out of it.

The educators are lined up. The topics are there. It just needs a few more of us. Every person who joins and takes part moves that forward, which is a good reason to be around for Level Up in August.

What You Can Do Now

If you are a student, the most useful thing you can do before the school year starts is get into the habit of asking questions in the community rather than sitting stuck on a problem for an hour. It is a small change and it saves a surprising amount of time.

If you are a tutor, it is worth taking a look at your profile and making sure it says what you actually want it to say. Clear beats clever. A student reading it should be able to tell in a few seconds what you teach and who you are best at helping.

And if you are somewhere in between, which most people are, Level Up starting on August 2 is the easiest way in. Turn up, take part, and see where you land.

The Part That Is Not Changing

All of this is built on the same idea the community started with. Math is easier when you are not doing it alone, tutors should keep what they earn, and nobody should have to pay just to ask a question. The free channels stay free, the community stays open, and the new features are there to make the good parts easier to find.
